Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine originally created in China. Acupuncture is based around the concept of a universal energy that courses through your body, called chi.

Traditional acupuncturists seek to relieve pain by increasing energy flow via small, thin needles that are targeted to certain points on your body.

Is Acupuncture for Me?

Acupuncture can treat a variety of conditions with varying degrees of success and relief. Many find acupuncture useful for:

  • Asthma
  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
  • Back pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Chronic pain
  • Joint pain
  • Migraines
  • Bronchitis
  • Arthritis
  • Menstrual Cramps
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Headaches

Because many find the acupuncture process to be relaxing, it has also been used to treat depression and anxiety. If you’re suffering from any of these conditions, please call (505) 323-8100 or request more information online.

What Can I Expect?

Most find the acupuncture process to be painless, not dissimilar to receiving a light massage. Your acupuncturist will take every measure to accommodate you and ensure your comfort.

Before beginning your treatment, your acupuncturist will ask you about your symptoms so they can decide which acupuncture points and meridians to target. This often includes analyzing your tongue which is a fundamental part of acupuncture diagnostics.

Each acupuncture appointment lasts around a half hour, with the needles staying in your body for around 20 minutes.

Most acupuncture treatment plans are comprised of six to 12 of these appointments, performed over several months.

A Healthier, Happier You
